Modderfontein at a glance
Modderfontein is a small suburb of the East Rand in the Gauteng Province. It was originally a mining town that was also the site of a dynamite factory. While it has grown beyond such humble beginnings, it continues to operate as one of South Africa's prime mining and industrial regions. Its name derives from the Modder River that originally ran through the town. It is a slightly haphazardly formed suburb that almost completely surrounds some of its neighbours like Lakeside, Thornhill Estate and Emerald Estate. The N3 borders the east of the suburb, and the R25 runs through it. It is also a mere 30 minutes away from OR Tambo airport via the R21. This prime location makes it a convenient option for companies that require easy access to the many surrounding commercial and industrial hotspots.
Attractions and Amenities:
Despite its success as an industrial and mining town, Modderfontein retains much of its natural beauty with beautiful parks and quiet, green streets. It has a distinct village-like atmosphere with much of the activity is centred around the Main Street. Many of the buildings here proudly exhibit the rich cultural heritage of Modderfontein. You can learn more about its history at the AECI Dynamite Company Museum, then enjoy delicious food and drink at one of the many incredible restaurants. For those more interested in outdoor activities and nature appreciation, Modderfontein Reserve will certainly not disappoint. Modderfontein as an Industrial Hotspot:
There are some magnificent industrial facilities available in each of the dedicated industrial and business areas within the suburb of Modderfontein. Longmeadow is a particularly popular location, as it is centrally located with excellent opportunities for high visibility frontage. The premises here offer facilities for manufacturing but are also conveniently placed within a prime business node. This makes it a fantastic option for a logistics company. Longlake is fairly new location that is well on its way to becoming one of the top industrial nodes in the area. It has some exciting new developments in progress that are in close proximity to the major arterial routes and Linbro Business Park. These new developments are designed to provide as much natural lighting as possible, and incorporate energy efficient initiatives. Linbro Park is the final location that is well worth looking into. Like Longmeadow, it is located in a booming business node but is also well suited to any industrial needs.
